0 Preface

It has been over 10 years since this eBook was first published with 22 Chapters and 35 pages, with the intention of updating the content on a monthly basis as the threats evolve. And boy, did they evolve, continuously at an unprecedented level.  New threats emerged as technology evolved or our reliance grew on certain types of technology, making it a target for the criminals.

The end result to date after nearly 100 updates, this eBook now has 47 chapters, 234 pages and over 100 real world cybercrime examples. Many of the early threat examples are still valid today (though a few have been removed) as the adage ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ applies to many of the cybercrime techniques. For ease the eBook was also split into two major sections: STUFF YOU NEED TO KNOW and THINGS YOU NEED TO DO.

Please note, this book is aimed at everyday users, it is not aimed at people studying professional security certifications like CISSP, though it doesn’t hurt for them to read this too!
